Chris DeClerk and Danny Boothe will discuss using Pipe Planner Pipe to increase earnings by $10/acre or more. Pipe Planner Pipe comes with a free online program that prescribes hole sizes for optimal water distribution across a field. By using a hole prescription, growers can reduce irrigation costs by 25% or more. Pipe Planner Pipe is used to irrigate over 4 million acres in the mid-south. Poly tubing is easy to install, needs little to no attention throughout the irrigation season and can be recycled at the end of the season.

HERBICIDE-RESISTANT WEEDS IN NEBRASKA AND THEIR MANAGEMENT

Presented By: Dr. Amit Jhala - UNL Department of Agronomy and Horticulture

Dr. Amit Jhala is an assistant professor and extension weed management specialist with the UNL. Amit’s research program at UNL is focused on the biology, gene flow, and management of herbicide-resistant weeds, through which he is specifically interested in pollen-mediated gene flow from herbicide-resistant crops and weeds. Dr. Jhala has published 74 papers in peer reviewed, high impact journals and 11 invited refereed book chapters. He was honored with Outstanding Early Career Scientist Award from the Weed Science Society of America and Distinguished Achievement Outstanding Young Scientist Award from the North Central Weed Science Society. He has developed a weed science extension and outreach program in the state of Nebraska that promotes a more sustainable corn and soybean production system by teaching the principles of safe and cost-effective weed management.

Brady Kappler has been a Tech Service Rep for BASF for the past 11 years providing crop protection product support for BASF business reps and innovation specialist in Nebraska. Prior to that he was with the University of Nebraska Extension. He received his M.S. in Agronomy with a weed science specialization also from the University Of Nebraska.
